who, what, why

I’ve always loved telling stories

whether it’s writing, taking photographs or making videos with my friends. My time at the University of Georgia helped me shape those passions in a meaningful way, and now I’m using those skills in my journalism career.

I’ve written lifestyle and news at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, fashion and culture at Strike Magazine, food and drink at The Red & Black and a little bit of everything at The Marietta Daily Journal. I want to use my background in writing, photography, videography and audio storytelling to make a difference in the lives of others.

My curiosity drives me to ask questions, discover new skills and meet people.

when, where, how

The best way to learn journalism is by doing it.

I’m currently a food content producer at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Working at a large outlet like the AJC has given me so many incredible and diverse reporting experiences. Before this, I was a reporting intern at the Marietta Daily Journal, a local newspaper for Cobb County with a circulation of around 17,000 copies. I produced multiple stories a week ranging from news to lifestyle content.

During my time at the University of Georgia, I worked as the assistant editor for the Eat & Drink desk at The Red & Black, UGA’s independent student newspaper. Here, I managed a team of contributing reporters, planned weekly content and wrote my own stories. I also reported, wrote and produced for Grady Newsource, a student-run broadcast show at UGA. This demanding class taught me the in’s and out’s of broadcast journalism, including how to produce day-turn stories, edit video with Adobe Premiere Pro, pivot to different stories quickly and localize national news.

I graduated with a degree in journalism, a minor in English and a certificate in New Media , a program that teaches tech skills and how to apply them in our fields of study. I’ve learned the basics of front-end web development including HTML/CSS, Javascript, Bootstrap and WordPress.

As for the fun stuff, I love nature walks with my dog, trying new restaurants, reading fiction and bookmarking New York Times recipes that I’ll probably never get around to making.

Stay for a bit and check out my work.
